Benefits of Membership with Universal Fighting Arts Federation

Universal Fighting Arts Federation
Membership Benefits and Responsibilities

The following is not only a list of the benefits and responsibilities with Universal Fighting Arts Federation but may also be considered a mission statement of Universal Fighting Arts Federation and what we believe and what we are about. This list is subject to evolution and change. While we do have meetings or "meetings of minds" we do not overburden our members or membership with frequent and unnecessary meetings, we take care of business and ideas as they occur and as needed. We also do not strive to be the largest organization around and our doors are open to both teachers with schools and teachers that have or choose to teach in public facilities such as Parks and Recreation, YMCA's or wherever is available - the spirit of a school is not contained in the brick, wood and plaster of a building but resides within the heart, spirit and mind of the teacher(s) and students.

Some of the benefits you can expect to enjoy are semi-regular newsletters, notices of special events and teachers, discounts to certain events, discounts on certain products, fellowship with sincere martial artists, rank recognition (In order to maintain our standards, authenticity, and reputation we require copies of rank certificates, letter(s) of reference, etc., and other authentication - to issue recognition of rank - contact us for more information) and more.

  • Ours is a living, growing Federation with no political agendas or cliques.
  • Our Federation is a group of sincere Martial Artists who share some of the same idea's and wish to exchange them in a open, friendly forum.
  • We believe that all people and all arts have something worthwhile, this Federation provides a medium in which to share those ideas among those who desire to do so and when and where appropriate.
  • With our Federation, when you join, you do not need to change the way you do things within your school or your style, nor do we want you to change the way you do things. We do not become involved or intrude in the way you run and conduct your school or teach your style, those things are strictly your business. We are not trying to "absorb" schools or people. Our desire is only that members should comport themselves in a dignified and honorable way at all times.
  • Our Federation provides a medium for all members to train and to share knowledge with each other mutually and with respect.
  • Within our Federation your rank and skill can be acknowledged (contact us for more details). We do not and will not tell you, or dictate to you, who and/or what you should honor, that is your call and part of the internal operations of your school or style and is not something we are involved in. Again, it is not this Federations business to intrude into members business or they way they run their schools or practice.
  • After your joining and acceptance, if you choose to learn a new form or system, you can use our resources to locate the person or persons who are expert in and/or teach that form and/or system. then it is between those 2 parties to work out the details/credits/etc., and we will stand behind and honor those details (again, contact us for details and specifics).
  • One of the many benefits of our Federation is that once you join you will receive a roster of all members who chose to be listed in our organization (do not give this list outside our organization without our written approval, it is a confidential list). With this list, if you are traveling, and you wish to work out, just pull out and reference your members list, look for a member or school in that area and contact them. If they are available then you may work out with this individual and/or school. They may or may not have a charge, that is between the two parties involved, we will not tell any individual or school what to do or how much or how little to charge.
  • Another benefit of the Members List is if you are seeking someone to do a seminar on their system, style, philosophy, etc. you can use the list (and/or contact our organization) to find the experts you are seeking. Since we are constantly evolving, learning, and growing, we will always be looking for suggestions, and ideas on any subjects that would involve personal growth.

Other benefits are: *members can chose to be on our mailing list so you can get to know other members of UFA, * Schools are listed on our mailing list as well, * Get on our e-mail list and receive interesting information on martial arts periodically, *Form study groups and exchange knowledge with others both locally and at a distance (you get credit for what you learn), *Participate in our annual Friendship Games

Responsibilities

Some of the responsibilities of membership with U.F.A. are that you abide by codes of conduct and ethics that govern our organization. The mastery of any art should bring with it qualities that go far beyond the mere physical skills needed to perform that art. Martial arts requires more than physical skill, it requires the development of the mind and spirit as well as the body. As you spend time perfecting your art there should also be a broadening and deepening of your character which is known as virtue and selflessness as well as a humble spirit.

Members of U.F.A. are expected to maintain high standards physically and even higher standards in the areas of ethics, respect, and virtue. Any members behaving in a fashion deemed unacceptable will be rejected from U.F.A. Disrespect, bullies, unethical behaviour, or any other breaches of conduct and/or etiquette are not permitted in U.F.A. The same holds true for seminar attendees whether or not they are members of U.F.A., if their behaviour is unacceptable they will be corrected and if they continue they well be expelled.

We hope to welcome you aboard as a member of Universal Fighting Arts Federation!
