Changing lines (counted from the bottom): 2, 3, 5.

What to read

Three changing lines: read the judgments of the original and the resulting hexagram; the original is the main one. (Rule set out by Zhu Xi in the Yixue qimeng.)

Judgment of hexagram 32 恒

恆:亨,无咎。利貞,利有攸往。

Hăng indicates successful progress and no error (in what it denotes). But the advantage will come from being firm and correct; and movement in any direction whatever will be advantageous.

Judgment of hexagram 45 萃

王假有廟,利見大人,亨。利貞。用大牲吉,利有攸往。

In (the state denoted by) Zhui, the king will repair to his ancestral temple. It will be advantageous (also) to meet with the great man; and then there will be progress and success, though the advantage must come through firm correctness. The use of great victims will conduce to good fortune; and in whatever direction movement is made, it will be advantageous.

LineChineseLegge
2悔亡。The second line, undivided, shows all occasion for repentance disappearing.
3不恆其德,或承之羞,貞吝。The third line, undivided, shows one who does not continuously maintain his virtue. There are those who will impute this to him as a disgrace. However firm he may be, there will be ground for regret.
5恆其德,貞,婦人吉,夫子凶。The fifth line, divided, shows its subject continuously maintaining the virtue indicated by it. In a wife this will be fortunate; in a husband, evil.
