Hexagram 57 巽 changing to hexagram 47 困
Changing lines (counted from the bottom): 3, 4, 6.
What to read
Three changing lines: read the judgments of the original and the resulting hexagram; the original is the main one. (Rule set out by Zhu Xi in the Yixue qimeng.)
Judgment of hexagram 57 巽
小亨。利有攸往。利見大人。
Sun intimates that (under the conditions which it denotes) there will be some little attainment and progress. There will be advantage in movement onward in whatever direction. It will be advantageous (also) to see the great man.
Judgment of hexagram 47 困
亨,貞大人吉,无咎,有言不信。
In (the condition denoted by) Khwăn there may (yet be) progress and success. For the firm and correct, the (really) great man, there will be good fortune. He will fall into no error. If he make speeches, his words cannot be made good.

The changing lines of hexagram 57
| Line | Chinese | Legge |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | 頻巽,吝。 | The third line, undivided, shows its subject penetrating (only) by violent and repeated efforts. There will be occasion for regret. |
| 4 | 悔亡,田獲三品。 | The fourth line, divided, shows all occasion for repentance (in its subject) passed away. He takes game for its threefold use in his hunting. |
| 6 | 巽在牀下,喪其資斧,貞凶。 | The sixth line, undivided, shows the representative of penetration beneath a couch, and having lost the axe with which he executed his decisions. However firm and correct he may (try to) be, there will be evil. |
