King's Kung-Fu& Tai Chi

Hexagram 61 中孚 changing to hexagram 18 蠱

zhōng fú
→
gǔ

Changing lines (counted from the bottom): 1, 3, 5.

What to read

Three changing lines: read the judgments of the original and the resulting hexagram; the original is the main one. (Rule set out by Zhu Xi in the Yixue qimeng.)

Judgment of hexagram 61

Kung Fû (moves even) pigs and fish, and leads to good fortune. There will be advantage in crossing the great stream. There will be advantage in being firm and correct.

Judgment of hexagram 18

Kû indicates great progress and success (to him who deals properly with the condition represented by it). There will be advantage in (efforts like that of) crossing the great stream. (He should weigh well, however, the events of) three days before the turning point, and those (to be done) three days after it.

The changing lines of hexagram 61

LineChineseLegge
The first line, undivided, shows its subject resting (in himself). There will be good fortune. If he sought to any other, he would not find rest.
The third line, divided, shows its subject having met with his mate. Now he beats his drum, and now he leaves off. Now he weeps, and now he sings.
The fifth line, undivided, shows its subject perfectly sincere, and linking (others) to him in closest union. There will be no error.
